CHAIRMAN - ALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY CHINA GROUP 1997 - 2010
From a standing start Ben Chapman created the most active and respected of such groups in Parliament with 500 members.  As Chairman he was responsible for its development and for parliamentary relations with the Embassy, and with the Government and Parliament of the People’s Republic of China.  Ben played a significant role in increasing public awareness of and increasing trade with China.  Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Peoples Congress on cooperation between the equivalent parliamentary groups.  Was received by senior leaders on frequent visits to China.  He is recognised as a major figure in UK-China relations.  

CHAIRMAN - ALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY VIETNAM GROUP 2003 - 2009
Created a major group numbering 130 members.  Significantly increased the depth of the relationship  with Vietnam and signed a Memorandum of Understanding to increase cooperation with the National Assembly.  Played a key role in developing bilateral relations.
 
CHAIRMAN - ALL PARTY CHAIRMAN - ALL PARTY PARLIAMENTARY TURKEY GROUP 1997 - 2001
Raised the profile of Turkey as a close ally and aspirant EU member.
